Based in New York, modern day womenswear and luxury brand Proenza Schouler was founded in 2002 by Parson’s graduates Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez. Through the end of their studies, the two design students partnered together in creating a thesis collection that successfully caught the eye of Barney’s New York buyers. With Barney's buying the entire line, Proenza Schouler was formed using both designer's mother’s maiden names. This downtown chic collection includes specific design elements such as the use of minimalistic silhouettes, exquisite tailoring, and artistic layers mixed with a muted color palette.
